My name is Mary Rauchwarter, and I manage Fairwinds. I have over 25 years experience as a nurse, working in Intensive care and nursing homes. I have always taken pride in caring for others, whether human or animal, in a respectful , loving manner. I have always been in love with all animals and have enjoyed their love and devotion from an early age, growing up in a rural setting in Minnesota.
I am a member of the National InterFaith Council and I am currently studying to become a Deacon to allow me to better assist my clients grieving the loss of a beloved companion. I personally care for you and your loved one from the time you give them to me, until they are returned to you. I also belong to the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, donate annually to the Arizona Humane Society, and work with various rescue organizations in the valley.
I moved to AZ in 1986 with my husband, and my family of dogs and cats. We currently are blessed to have five, all adopted. I have learned a lot about acceptance and joy of life from each of them.
It is because of them and the beloved pets I have had in the past that I wanted to be able to offer pet parents an alternative to what is currently available at the vet or other pet cremation services when the inevitable happens. I want pet parents to be able to spend as much time as they need to say their goodbyes. The pets in my care are not put in a bag in a freezer with other pets. I use a human mortuary cooler and each pet is in their own basket or location in the cooler in blankets. I do not perform mass, "individual" or "private" cremations which are offered through the vets. I cremate only one pet at a time, which is very important to my clients. I am available for my clients 24 hours. I offer visitations, funerals (with my pet minister) many products to memorialize your loved one, a large selection of urns and a library of books on grief and pet loss that are for sale as well.
Fairwinds gave me the opportunity to care for animals and their people at a time of significant grief and loss. The death of dear friend is not something we want to think about, but is an inevitable part of life. I have suffered through the loss of many of my animal friends, and want to help others by sharing what I have learned from these experiences. I believe that our pets should be cared for with love in death as they were in life. I promise to do that.
Please click on the testimonial page to read the cards sent to me by my past clients- I have been honored and gratedul to have been allowed to care for their loved ones. I chersih every friend I have found along the way in helping them ease at least a small part of their sorrow.
